The London Tattoo Convention is the industry’s number one event. Now in its 15th year, the 2019 convention will mark the first step on a journey towards reducing plastic pollution. From the moment that last year’s convention ended,  thoughts immediately turned to how to make 2019 even better. That’s no small task. But one issue that has consistently dominated the conversations is the environment. So, the organizers of the London Tattoo Convention have been working on what they can do to make the convention more environmentally conscious.

Co-founder Marcus Berriman explains, “The London Tattoo Convention is the number one tattoo convention in the world. It is also the most respected and the one that is held in the highest regarded by people throughout our community and therefore it is important for us to lead by example.”

“We’ve always prided ourselves on being both progressive and pioneering, and we want play our part in reducing plastic pollution on our planet. So, we are proud to say that the 2019 London Tattoo Convention sees the launch of our journey to reduce plastic in our industry.”

Some of the things that we will be doing this year include…

  • The installation of recycling points throughout the venue
  • Every tattoo artist appearing at LTC 2019 will receive eco-friendly products including products from Killer Ink’s new range, Ecotat which are made with naturally derived, plant based and sustainable materials and are 100 per cent compostable.
  • We will be also be reducing the amount of plastics in the packs gifted to the artists.
  • And we’re delighted to announce that marine conservation charity Sea Shepherd will be our eco-partner. They have a few surprises up their sleeves and will be on hand throughout the convention to educate and inform visitors about the plastic pollution problem – and ways everyone can help.

Marcus adds, “The 2019 Convention is just the first step on this journey. We will always be keen to hear from the artists, performers, suppliers and the visitors who make this event so special, about what we can do together to protect our planet.”
